Interview w/VEARA. Pop/punk from Georgia, the peach state!!

The day we interviewed The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, we had the chance to make a short interview with VEARA as well, this band had been touring a lot lately, in less than one year they played 3 times in Europe.3 guys and 1 girl rocking the stage like if there were no tomorrow, we had the chance to interview Bradley singer of this band coming from the peach state. Check out their music HERE and enjoy the interview.

3rd time in Vienna in less than a year, you must love it here?

Brad: Yeah 3rd time in a year! Our first time here we played at the Gasometer with Sum-41, The black pacific and The riverboat gamblers and our second time was with Millencolin here at the Arena, we played a whole tour with them and with a band from Sweden called Atlas losing grip which are really awesome too, really cool.

Now is our 3rd time, we just played the warped tour in the U.S. and we came here to play some summer festivals then we had a couple of days off and now we will play a couple of shows with The mighty mighty bosstones and The black pacific.

In a few words how would you define Veara´s sound?

Brad: I normally tell people that we are a pop/punk band and well basically that´s what we are just we have a more modern sound I think, like we are a little bit heavier than most pop/punk bands but not so heavy as in heavy metal or hardcore.

Talking about your video “B-side of life”, Is that really about the story of your lives or just a coincidence?

Brad: Yeah really is!! The video really is!! I actually do work at a food restaurant, I´m a fast food cook back at home you know? like burgers and kind of sucks but you know, it gets me money when I’m at home and Patrick is landscaping, he is not a construction worker but he is landscaping, Brian also does yard work, he does yard work for random houses and Brittany actually used to work at a cash for gold place haha, she really did that so 2 out of four characters on that video were/are real haha.

Generally what are your lyrics about?

Brad: Well from our last CD “What we left behind” there is much to say. I joined the band in 2008, and I’ve been familiar with Veara, I’ve been friends of those guys and girl for a while, I played already many show with them, there has been a lot of member changes, even when I joined the band we used to have another guy and then we lost him because I think he wasn’t really in to it,the situation kind of sucked. But well we kept on moving and well so many other situations, so it was exactly what we left behind; That´s really the theme of our band I should say, and not just the name of the album, you have to keep your integrity, push through because I mean you only live once, H2O says that in a song called O.L.O.C (One life, one chance).

About creating new songs, who brings the main ideas to the table?

Brad: I say mostly is team work, like for example if Patrick has a guitar riff or me, basically most of the time starts with Patrick or I nah even Brian he brings his ideas too, Brittany she doesn´t play guitar but she has understanding on this stuff, so when we play a small part of the song she gets it, sometimes the song finishes up in a completely different way of what we were thinking or what we wanted it to be and that´s the beauty of music you know?  Music is art and sometimes you just follow it blindly, of course you have an idea of what you want to do and it is amazing how we start from a little part of the song and suddenly we finish with a really cool song.

Which are your next plans for the band?

Brad: Write a new record.

When will it be released?

Brad: Probably for February or at least next spring, we will start to record in October, our last work was recorded with Andrew Wade and was produced by the singer of A Day to Remember, so for the upcoming CD we will do the same deal with the same people, we already showed Jeremy some new ideas and he is really stoked on them, so we can´t wait man! We going to finish writing it and then we will hit the studio. You will see is way different than anything we did before.

Would you like to add something else?

Brad: Thanks to The Black Pacific, they had been really cool to us! Thanks to our booking agent because he book us amazing shows in Europe, Thanks to The Mighty Mighty Bosstones for having us at their shows and well we´ll see us again before you expect it hopefully with a new CD.
